William Richard (Dick) Timmons

William Richard (Dick) Timmons was born December 19, 1946, in Akron, Ohio. He went to heaven on April 17, 2023 after a brief illness to be met by many who left before him.

He proudly served as a Crew Chief in the United States Army from 1964 - 1967 with the 1st Cavalry, 9th Division, Bullwhip Squadron in Vietnam and recipient of the Air Medal and Purple Heart. He was not one to shy from his military history in Vietnam, but rather you could see his pride from the flags he flew, the pictures he hung and the stories he told. He was very proud to be consulted (along with other veterans) when the movie We Were Soldiers was produced, as this was based on a battle he fought in and lived through at The Battle of Ia Drang Valley.

Dick is survived by his wife of two years, Susan Lipscomb, whom he met in high school and had recently reconnected. He will also be remembered by his children, Erin (Jaime) Timmons and Jessica (Brian) McLean-Timmons; step-son, Ed (Mary) Caruso; grandchildren, Hunter, Heidi, Joe, Julie, Vance, Ryan and Bella, as well as his first wife and forever friend, Neomi DeVaughn. Additionally, he is survived by very special friends who have always been family, Larry Lint and David and Cindy Green. Those who knew Dick could tell you that once you were family, you were always family, and your extended family was his family too.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Catherine (nee Pfeffer) Timmons, his brother Bob Timmons, his wives Marge Timmons and Gayle Timmons.

Known for his love of hunting, fishing, cookouts and sense of humor, Dick was loved by all that met him, and you never left his house hungry or without a smile on your face.

Calling hours 4-7p.m. Monday, April 24 at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Private inurnment at Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
