Warren L. Ferrell, 91, passed away November 16, 2022 after a long illness, at the The Hospice of Western Reserve in Medina.
Dad was born on Sept. 24, 1931 in Conotton, Ohio. He attended Bowerston Elementary until he and his family moved to Akron during which time we attended East High School, graduating in 1949. After graduation, Dad proudly served his County as a “sonarman” in The United States Navy, during the Korean War from 1951-1955. It was during the war in 1951 that he met the love of his life, Darlene M. McVey. Dad and Mom were married on December 22, 1951, and remained married until Mom's death in 1977.
After Dad was honorably discharged from the Navy, he attended Akron University from 1955-1959, earning his degree in Elementary Education. Dad taught, or was a principle at numerous Akron Public Schools, 1959-1963 at Bryan Elementary School, 1963-1976 at Seiberling Elementary School, and 1977-1989 was principle at the following schools: Rankin, Seiberling, Heminger, and and Smith Elementary Schools.
Dad married his second wife, Lynda M. Cincurak on December 26, 1978, they remained married until Dad's passing.
Dad retired from the Akron Public Schools in 1989 with 30+ years of teaching. After one day of retirement, Dad taught at St. Hilary School for an additional 5 years, before finally retiring for good.
Dad will always be remembered for his love of family, teaching, travel, and his love of animals and nature.
Dad was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene (1977); his father, Joseph C. Ferrell (1993); his mother, Blanche A. Farrell (1999); and his only only granddaughter, Staci M. Ferrell (2002).
Dad is survived by wife, Lynda M. Ferrell of Copley; sons, David W. Ferrell and Jeff, both of Akron; he also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with more friends than I can count!!
Dad, you were my father, mentor, and best friend. You are already missed by everyone. I'll miss you until the end of time.
Calling hours 4-7p.m. Monday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 SW. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, and 10a.m. until funeral services at 11a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Conotten Cemetery.
