Vito Caetta, age 91, was born in Carini, Sicily, and passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
In the winter of 1947, at just 14 years old, Vito arrived in the United States "off the boat" from Sicily. He went on to serve proudly as a tank driver in the Army during the Korean War. In 1958, Vito went back to Sicily to marry his wife Jean that spanned 60 wonderful years. They made their home in Cuyahoga Falls, where they raised their three sons: Pete, Vince, and Frank.
Vito worked for the Firestone Defense and Research Department before eventually opening his own machine shop, JC Tool & Die, on Front Street. In his later years, Vito enjoyed spending winters as a "snowbird" in New Port Richey, Florida, where he cherished time with his extended family.
Vito was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean, and his son, Vince. He is survived by his sons, Pete and Frank; grandson, David Caetta; and his fiancé, Jean Merchant.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:30am at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery.
