Virginia A. (Scanlon) Wilde, 89, passed away peacefully at home, June 12, 2021. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 69 years, Eugene.
Throughout her life, she found the greatest pleasure being surrounded by her loving family; Deborah Miller (Tim), Diane Fresh (Michael), Steven (Pam), Kathryn Cardarelli (Marc), and Michael (Michele), 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren -- and the memories made during countless family vacations and holidays celebrated together.
A supportive mom and doting grandma, her home -- often referred to as “Grand Central Station” -- was always busy and filled with warm welcomes and full cupboards. Those closest to her will remember fondly her love of the Christmas season, red cardinals (a nod to her native St. Louis) and Russell Stover chocolates.
Together with Gene, Virginia was a 50 year resident of Fairlawn and an active member of St. Hilary Catholic Church.
The family expresses their deep gratitude for the staff at Brookdale Montrose for all their compassionate care for Virginia & Eugene and the entire family.
Friends and family are welcome for a Mass of Christian Burial 12p.m. Wednesday, June 16th at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. in Fairlawn, with calling hours 11am until Mass time.
Private interment at Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Donations can be made to St. Hilary Parish.
