Valerie J. (Guenther) Kriz

Valerie J (Guenther)  Kriz, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on April 29, 2023.

Valerie was born on May 28, 1942 to Clyde and Helen Guenther in Akron, Ohio and was one of 12 children.  Valerie grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and was a 1960 graduate of St. Vincent High School, and the St. Thomas School of Nursing in 1963.  After a long nursing career, Valerie joined her husband, Dale, in retirement and shared a love of crafting.  She also was a passionate and gifted quilter for many years.  

Valerie will be remembered by all who knew her as a devout Catholic with deep faith.  She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who devoted her life to her family.

Valerie is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Dale Kriz, mother Helen Guenther, father Clyde Guenther, brother Joseph Guenther, son in law Ronald Rymer, sister in law Mary Ann Guenther, brother in law Louis Dirker, and brother in law Kevin Quinn.

Valerie is survived by children Miriam (Brian) Cook, Karen (Doug) Baker, Tim (Kathy) Maletich, and Jennifer Rymer,  grandchildren Allison Cook, Sarah (Tim) Hrich, Emily Cook, Jacob Baker,  Benjamin Baker, Noah Baker,  Amanda Maletich, Timmy Maletich, Malory (Kyle) Gooding, Ashley (Matt) Grissom, and Casey Rymer, great grandchild Lydia Gooding, sisters Mary (Chuck) Scheatzle, Maria (Richard) Schaaf, Miriam Dirker, Annie (Ron) Vatalaro, Pamela (Jim) Procaccio, and Rose Quinn, and brothers Raymond (Irene) Guenther, Paul Guenther, Michael (Megan) Guenther, and Patrick (Kay) Guenther.

Calling hours will be on Friday, May 12, from 4pm to 7pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.  Catholic Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, May 13, at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
