Sister M. Imelda Marinovich, F.D.C., a faithful Daughter of Divine Charity for 80 years passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord in the early hours of the morning on January 9, 2024.
Sister Imelda was born on June 26, 1922, to Joseph and Julia Marinovich (Smolich) and baptized Olga Agnes. Sister Imelda obtained her BS Education Degree from Youngstown University. She made God’s Love visible through her commitment of Service as Organist, Teacher, Principal, Provincial Councilor, and General Chapter Delegate. The message of the Gospel was evident by her prayerfulness, generous heart, and joy filled life as a Daughter of Divine Charity to all she encountered.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister Mildred, niece Janette, and nephew Bob. She is survived by Cousins in New York and Florida. Sister Imelda will be missed by all those whose lives she has touched, especially her religious community and the families of the parishes she served in NY, OH, PA and WI. Thank you to the caregivers, staff and doctors that cared for her in her last days.
Visitation will be on Saturday January 20th at 10;00 A.M. before the Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 11:00 A.M. at Francesca/Leonora Hall Convent Chapel, 39 N. Portage path, Akron, Ohio 44303. Luncheon will follow. Sister Imelda will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
