Sister M. Karen Chevrier, OP
Sr. M. Karen, formerly Anne Chevrier, died at the age of 95 on October 1st, at Regina Health Care Center, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 27th, 1928, to parents Claude A. Chevrier and the former Margaret Mary Kearney in Butte, MO, where she was raised with five siblings. The family moved extensively over the years across many states. After graduating from Sacred Heart Dominican College in Houston, TX, in 1958, she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace, on August 15th, 1959. Sr. Karen taught at Regina Caeli, Alliance; St. Dominic, Youngstown; Notre Dame, Denver, CO, and St. Daniel, Scottsdale, AZ. She then served as Pastoral Minister at St. Louis, Englewood, CO, Nativity, Broomfield, CO and St. John, Akron, OH. In1996, she completed her studies as a Massage Therapist and graciously shared this skill with others. She was always a very caring person offering her kind and loving heart to all she met.
Sr. Karen was preceded death by her parents and her five siblings: Alta Mitchell, Virginia Bunch, Claude Kearney Chevrier, Helen Patricia Baxter and Faila Corinne Chevrier. She is survived by two faithful nieces and a nephew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Oct 9th at our Lady of the Elms Convent Chapel, 1230 W. Market St., Akron, at 10:30AM, preceded by visitation and sharing of memories at 9:30AM. Burial immediately following the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.
