Sara Jean (Milburn) Bertolini
January 12, 1942 – June 4, 2025
Sara Jean Bertolini, a devoted healthcare professional and beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on January 12, 1942, Sara grew up in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where she attended St. Mary’s Grade School. She graduated from St. John’s Central High School in Bellaire, Ohio, in 1960. Following her calling to care for others, she earned her nursing degree from Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling, West Virginia, graduating in 1963. She later acquired her Certificate of Nurse Anesthetist from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1974.
Sara pursued a distinguished career as a nurse anesthetist, beginning at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. In 1974, she joined Akron General Medical Center, where she worked as a staff nurse anesthetist with experience in a wide range of general and specialized surgeries, including vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, and OB-GYN procedures.
On May 1, 1992, Sara married Roland Bertolini, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and LoDella Milburn, and her niece, Carol Ann Bertolini.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Gayle Weber, and husband Jordan; her nephew, Joe Bertolini; great-nieces, Alexandria, Isabella, and Catiedia Bertolini; great-nephews, William and Nicholas Bertolini; and her cherished Skye Terrier, Chip.
Sara’s legacy is one of care, strength, and grace. She touched the lives of all who knew her, both personally and professionally. Her family and friends will forever cherish her warmth and wisdom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hilary Catholic Church on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11:30am where friends may call from 10:30-11:30am. Interment Moore's Chapel Cemetery.
