Ronald V. Koly

Ronald V. Koly, 75, loving father, brother, uncle and papa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 6, 2023. Ron was born on January 20, 1948 in Akron, OH. He was a 1966 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School and received a Masters of Education from the University of Akron. Ron spent 48 years working in the Akron Public Schools, ending his career in the ESL program, where he touched the lives of those he worked with and taught. Ron was a member of Guardian Angels Church and the Polish American Citizens Club.

Ron was a man who described his life as charmed. He had three passions: family, food, and faith. He lived his passion for family by hosting family dinners at Dontino’s, holidays, beach vacations, babysitting his grandchildren and never missing an opportunity to send a greeting card to someone he loved. Ron was proud of his Polish heritage and his greatest joy was preparing the annual Christmas Eve Wigilia meal featuring his famous sauerkraut, pierogi and mushroom soup recipes. Ron embodied his Catholic faith, praying the rosary daily and attending weekly mass, no matter where in the world he was. More importantly he treated all he met with kindness and respect.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Rowland) Koly of 29 years; parents, Bernard and Faustina Koly; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Mary Koly; brother-in-law, Vince Rowland. His memory will live on in the hearts of his children, Vanessa (Mark) Wadlington, Danielle (Daniel) Rodriguez, Marie (Jason) Christman; grandchildren, Kaeden Wadlington, Isabella Rodriguez, Owen, Collin and soon to be born baby boy Christman; loving companion, Susan Emmerich; sister-in-law Mary (Mike) Zubovic; brother-in-law Joe Rowland; nieces Jessica Koly and Abigail Sear; many additional loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours 2-6p.m. Sunday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn.

Mass of Christian Burial 10a.m. Monday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
