Robert G. Sharkey, Jr. passed away June 10, 2022. He was born in Akron on March 1, 1964 and attended three of the Akron Public Schools, graduating from North High School. He attended and graduated from KSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Education; and received a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Ursuline College and received a Commission on Rehab Counseling Certification.
Having been completely disabled from birth, along with blindness, it never curtailed Rob in giving his all in the many activities in which he was involved. He was a man of great faith and had no doubts about the love of his Savior Jesus Christ.
A long time member of St. Hilary Catholic Church, he was involved in these ministry groups: Faith Alive, Bible Study leader, team member and facilitator of RCIA, along with teaching scriptures.
He also helped lead Bible studies where he resided the last 10 years, the Village of St. Edward.
He had many true friendships with so many people and loved and appreciated every one of them. His life was a true gift to the many people who knew him. He was a true servant of Christ.
Preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Bob Sharkey. He is survived by aunts, Cynthia Price, Tanie White; uncle, Bob Price and other family members and many close friends.
The formed friendships and deep, grateful thanks to all the nursing staff and care givers of St. Ed and the Justin T. Rogers aides and nurses of hospice care the last 3 months of his life.
