"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Richard “Duke” Daly was born to the late Harry and Mary Daly on March 12, 1953, in Lorain, OH. He grew up and resided most of his life in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for over thirty years and as he always quoted, took pride in carrying out its "unofficial" motto: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
Rick had three girls with Susan (LaBate) Daly. He is survived by his daughters, Maia Daly, Kari (Chad) Mraz, Kelly (Sean) Prescott; his four grandchildren, Derek Prescott and Jalen, Morgan, and Calvin Mraz; his siblings, Lawrence (Linda) Daly, Patricia (Brian) Marconi, Joann Thomas, and Susan (Michael) Janota; his nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews; and preceded by his brother, Dennis.
Our father was a thoughtful, compassionate man. His heart was full and it overflowed to the ones he knew. He had a sensitive heart, a love of classic movies, golf, politics, NPR, his daily newspaper, and a love/hate of his Cleveland sports teams.
He was the most creative person we knew- a real dreamer in every sense of the word. He will be remembered as being a free spirit and will be in our hearts always and forever be missed. We know he is smiling down with tears in his blue eyes but happy to be reunited with his “Irish twin,” Dennis.
We will be honoring our father with calling hours from 4-6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 20th at the Himelright Lodge with a celebration of life memorial to immediately follow. Address: 1212 Cuyahoga St, Akron, OH 44313.
