Richard Toll Jenkins 83, was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1938 in Akron to John & Susie A (Beeman) Jenkins. He passed away Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021 in Akron.
Dick is now reunited with his, young son, Christopher; his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister, who passed before him. He will be greatly missed by daughters, Tammy (Thomas) Carr and Diana (James) Cross; grandchildren, Richard (Jennifer) Jenkins, Nicholas Corradino, Dylan (Victoria) Corradino, Cassandra (Dylan McCoy) Cross, and James Cross; his precious great-grandchildren, Londyn and Calvin Jenkins, Scarlette, Jameson, and Dante Corradino, Roselyn and Owen McCoy; sister, Phyllis Heathman.
After graduating from Buchtel High School, Dick served in the US Marine Corps, 1958-1962. He attended Engineering school and worked for the city of Akron for 30 years, before retiring in 1989 at 51 years young. Dick never fully retired though. He was custodian at his church for 50 years and worked at various part-time jobs to keep busy. He volunteered as an Akron Jaycee for many years as well as 48 years with the Bridgestone Akron Golf Classic. He was even the Golf Classic Ambassador one year. Dick enjoyed bowling, gardening and many years of golf trips with his dearest friend Al Keller.
Family was everything to Dick. He loved to cook Sunday dinners, meet for ice cream on Thursdays, celebrate every family members birthday with special dinners and gather together for all holidays.
Dick never knew how to say “no”. He was a kind and loving man, a role model to his family and friends.
The family has chosen to have a family service with burial afterwards. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Akron.
