Richard Gargano Obituary

Richard Monte Gargano passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, shortly after his 88th birthday. He is survived by his son Gary (Allison), his daughter Vicki, his brother Ron, and his grandchildren Phillip, Katherine, Christine, Samantha, and Lilly. He is preceded in death by his wife Noma in 2012 and his parents, Sam and Elsie.

Richard was born on June 18, 1936 in Chicago, IL, where he grew up and graduated from high school before completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois and MBA at University of Chicago. Prior to a long and successful career in accounting, Richard served his country in the U.S. Army. He met his beloved wife at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she was a nurse. He lovingly reminded his friends and family over the years that Noma not only outranked him in the Army, but throughout their marriage, and that he saluted her when he first met her. Richard and Noma spent many happy years together with their children in the Chicago suburbs before settling down for the rest of their years in the Akron, OH area and their winter home in Ocala, FL.

Richard was an avid golfer, a member and board member of Aurora Country Club in Illinois and Fairlawn Country Club in Ohio, and a generous supporter of the Easter Seals. He loved Sudoku, teasing his loved ones, and doting on his wife. Above all, he loved and took diligent care of his family.

Funeral service will be held Saturday July 13 at 1:00pm at Sisco Funeral Chapel Inc., 705 W. Meadow Ave. Springdale, AK 72764, with calling hours one hour prior to service.

Interment will be held at Bluff Cemetery.
