Richard Attalla Sr Obituary

Richard J. Attalla, Sr. of Akron Ohio passed away April 27, 2024, peacefully, after a long illness, with his family by his side. "Dickie" or “Ghido” to his family and close friends, was born in Akron, Ohio on March 19, 1942, and was a lifelong resident. Dick has joined together with his beloved wife, Moira, brother Ted and parents Eva and Theodore Attalla. He was a devoted family man, who was raised in a close-knit family and attended St. Joseph’s Melkite church and St. Mary’s catholic school. Dick graduated from the University of Akron with his master’s degree in business and psychology.

After graduation Dick went on to have a successful career in the paper and label industry for 50 years with several companies, as an owner, CEO, top producer, and consultant.  He traveled all over the world working, while enjoying the scenery, food, and culture. Everywhere Dick went someone knew him, because he liked to make friends and an impact, leaving an indelible mark.

He and Moira, his wife of 25 years, enjoyed dining and traveling together, and built their beautiful home together in Copley, Ohio. Dick leaves behind his five children Denise Hendrickson, Richard Attalla Jr., Suzanne Vargas, Christine Attalla, Anthony Attalla, 11 grandchildren Adam & Audrey (Csirmaz) Hendrickson, Seth Hendrickson, Joshua Hendrickson, Elizabeth (Attalla) & Alec Gerred, Matthew Attalla, Cassandra Attalla, Madelyn Vargas, Joanna Vargas, Ashelynn Justice, Hunter Rose, and Payton Attalla, and his siblings (Ted) and Janice Attalla of OK. City, Oklahoma, James and Linda of Evergreen, Colorado, Sister Patrice Schott of Fairlawn, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that filled his entire life.

Dick loved to play sports and was an avid golfer most of his life.  He was intrigued by wildlife and animals and keeping abreast of world news, but more than anything Dick loved and enjoyed his family and the large gatherings that were hosted in his home. There were always conversations about politics, making business deals, and with his family around the dining room table talking and eating for hours, playing games, and having enjoyment, Dick was happy. He loved being a part of everyone’s life and knowing how all the children and grandchildren were doing on a regular basis.

His family paid this tribute to him, “Dickie was a smart and caring man, who was a big part and influence in our lives. He opened his heart and life to many people over the years and he always knew how to get the answers and provide advice. He was idolized and will be sorely missed by us all.”

His calling hours will be held Saturday, June 1st from 10am -12pm with a Memorial Service to follow at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
