Raymond D. Youngkin, 84, died November 19, 2022 in his sleep. He was born in Akron, and had three brothers, Harold, Richard, and Denzil, and one step-sister, Kathryn Arnold. He served in the U.S. Army five years, two in the reserves then three as active duty. He had a distinguished career in the Akron Police Department serving 45 years, retiring as a Detective Sergeant.
He and his wife Peggy spent many years traveling to their summer campground in Maryland, where they spent time fishing and catching blue crab on the Chester River. He also enjoyed woodworking and home projects. He was a very caring person and took good care of others.
He was preceded in death by the dearest love of his life, wife Margaret (Peggy). He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Lynn) Youngkin and Ken (Candy) Youngkin; his two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, John (Gail) Costanza; special friend, Anne (Randy) Myers; and his kitty, Misty.
Funeral services will be held 7p.m. Tuesday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, where friends may call 5p.m. until service time.
Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
