Paul Bonardi Obituary

Paul Henry Bonardi, 78, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday, November 17th , with his loving family by his side.

Paul was born on May 15th, 1946 in Monroeville, Pennsylvania to Marion and Margaret (Ridella) Bonardi. He graduated from Gateway High and went on to earn a B.S. in marketing from the University of Akron, where he also met the love of his life, Diana (Tretto). Paul served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1971, on the U.S.S. Constellation stationed in Vietnam. After returning to Akron and finishing his degree, he and Diana wed on August 5th, 1972 at St. Bernard’s Catholic church.

Paul is dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Diana; his sons, Michael and Tony Bonardi of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Donna (Phillip) Hunter of Sedona, Arizona; sister-in-law, Rosemarie (Donald) Patterson; nieces Rochelle (David) Kaiser, and Lisa (Roni) Thomas-Patterson; and many cousins, friends, and colleagues.

Now, he can reunite with his parents Marion and Margaret; and his mother-in-law, Teresa, and father in-law, Anthony Tretto.

Paul was a family man with a contagious sense of humor and a quiet confidence about him. He loved sharing time with his family—playing sports with his sons, and taking family vacations and trips to Italy with his wife to visit extended family will always be etched into his soul. In his years working at Pinkerton Insurance Agency, of which he eventually became President, Paul enjoyed the mentorship of Noel Pinkerton, a man he was honored to know and eventually eulogize. His clients saw Paul as not simply a business contact, but a close friend, an oft repeated fact. Paul was a parishioner of St. Hilary’s church for over forty years and a long-time member of Fairlawn Country Club, where he had many friends and served on the board.

Calling hours will be held, Tuesday November 26th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Hilary Church, 2750 W. Market St, Fairlawn, OH with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Paul’s memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Center.
