Patricia M. "Pat" (nee Smith) Blake

Patricia “Pat” Blake (89) passed away on March 7, 2021, after a long illness.

She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Garfield High School in 1949. She resided the bulk of her adult life in Silver Lake, Ohio where she raised her children and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, later attending services at St. Eugene’s. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, golf, the tall ships, spending time with family and friends, and playing cards with former memberships in several Bridge Clubs throughout her life. She started working at an early age babysitting and later worked for Polsky’s Department Store, Monsanto, and eventually retired from the Summit County Juvenile Court, which was indeed a deterrent for her children getting into trouble in their youth. She believed strongly in her Catholic faith, equality and justice, and supporting those who need it the most.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Blake; parents, Chester and Mildred Smith; brother, Cletus “Dick” Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and John Mangu; siblings, Catherine and Raymond in childhood; son-in-law, Mark Dannemiller, and many close friends. She is survived by daughter, Claudia Dannemiller; sons, Jeffrey (Tracey) Blake, Patrick (Connie) Blake, Christopher (Lynn) Blake, Sean (John McMillan) Blake; grandchildren, Kathrine Dannemiller, Cameron Blake, and Connor and Logan Blake. She is additionally survived by many cherished nieces and nephews including special niece “Jean Marie” Mangu.

Pat will be forever remembered for her card skills playing Euchre and especially Bridge, her conviction to always trying to do the right thing, her willingness to lend a hand and pitch in when needed, her sense of humor, and driving fast with a lead foot style. There are many stories of laughter and hijinks from her youth that will live on through family memories and history. She will be missed by all who survive her.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 10:00 am to Noon, followed immediately by a service at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.

Inurnment at Standing Rock Cemetery.
