Milton Radovic Obituary

Milton M. Radovic, (Milt), age 83 of Brecksville, OH passed away peacefully on October 2, 2020 with family members at his side. Milt had courageously battled cancer for over the past three years.

He was born in Akron, OH on January 13, 1937, to the late Milan and Kathryn (Bankov) Radovic, whom he loved dearly.

Milt is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Cherie; as well as his siblings, William (Alice – deceased) and Milana (Bunny) Sherwood (Allan – deceased). His youngest brother Dana (Mike) preceded him in death in 2016.

In addition, he leaves behind his loving children, Yolanda Radovic, Rebecca Hartong (Randy – deceased), Daniel, Matthew (Dolly), and Adam. He was preceded in death in 2016 by his eldest son, Milan Michael.

Milt’s life was also blessed by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, plus many nieces and nephews.

Milt attended Akron South High School where he played all sports, but excelled in football; and, served in the United States Navy as seaman aboard the submarine, Sabalo. After his honorable discharge from the service he attended the University of Akron at night while starting his life-long career with The East Ohio Gas Company in the Akron Division’s Engineering Department. He held many positions within the department over the years; and, was promoted to serve as Operations Superintendent at a sister company, West Ohio Gas in Lima, OH. He met his future wife, Cherie, there where they served on the management team tougher,

In 1987, he returned to East Ohio Gas – Cleveland Division and served as the Manager of the Pipeline Compliance Department. He chose to take an early buyout from East Ohio in 1995 after 38 years of service.

Upon his retirement, he became extremely involved with his church, St, Demetrius Serbian Orthodox in Akron, OH. There he served as the Board President from 2004 – 2010, among other positions with the Board over the years. He was an active member of the Men’s Choir Kosovo and worked in the kitchen for the Thursday night church Bingo. In addition to his family members, Milt was most proud of the many friendships that he cultivated over the years with his fellow church members.

Those who knew Milt, realized that fishing was a passion. If there was a pond, lake, river or stream, he was ready to try it out. In addition, he loved to attend professional sporting events, serve as a football coach for various Akron teams, and watch Indy and NASCAR racing.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10th at St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, 3106 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44321 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. After which time, a Celebration of Life Service will be officiated by Father Dragan Goronjic at the church. A private Burial Service for the family will take place at Brecksville Memorial Cemetery,

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration is given to making a contribution in Milt’s name to either St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church or a charity of your choice.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the family requests that all visitors wear masks and adhere to social distancing. A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date.
