On Monday, August 23, 2021 I lost the love of my life.
He was the kindest, sweetest, soul that I have ever known, as one of my nieces said was
the foundation of his family for many years and a class act.
Michael Mihelis, 97, was born on May 9, 1924 to Pantelis and Disenl Mihelis in Akron, Ohio.
He graduated from East High School in 1943, starting his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1942, leaving for a period of time from 1943-1945 to join the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served aboard the USS Biscayn where he made friendships that lasted a lifetime. After his service, he returned to Goodyear to work until he retired in 1989 after having worked for 47 years. But that was not the end of Michael's careers, in April of 2000 he started working at Acme until leaving at the age of 95.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia; step-children, Christine (Anthony) DeStefano, Glenn Grohan (deceased) and Catherine (Norm) Rhoades; grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Jake, Daniel and Gabriella; also niece, Dr. Mary File (Dr. Tom File)
