Mary Lou Salladay

Mary Lou, age 91, of Akron and Titusville, Florida, passed away at home on December 25, 2025. Born in Akron on December 1,1934, she was a graduate of St. Vincent High School. Mary Lou was a member of St. Sebastian Church and The Christ Child Society for over 50 years. She worked at St. Sebastians Rectory and the Akron Beacon Journal for many years. Mary Lou enjoyed her neighbors at Eagles Chase in Akron and Pelican Point in Florida, driving her convertible, sharing her favorite zinnias, garage sales, going out to eat (“I’ll go anywhere”), and being with her family and friends. Mary Lou was a kind and giving woman.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by Ron, her husband of 58years, and by parents Elmer and Helen Bauer and brother Jerry Bauer. She was the mother of Ann (Mike) Besch, Sue (Bob) Worstall, and Bob (Tara) Salladay; special grandmother to A.J.Miano, Chelsea and Scott Worstall, Peyton, Jimmy, Nick (Allison) Salladay and Tricia Robertson; as well as a special aunt to Kathy Brosch and Patty Welch; and many friends.

The family would like to thank the health care workers who helped her over the last few months of her life, especially Lora, Dawn and Tiffany. We would also like to thank Dr. Dom Dera and the staff at Southern Care Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 29, 2025, at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. Akron, OH at 11:00 am where friends may call 10:00 a.m. until the service. Private interment at Western Reserve Cemetery.
