Mary Jane Presper Obituary

Mary Jane “Jane” Presper, 90, went home to the Lord and to join her husband, Ben, on October 28, 2021.

Jane was a graduate of Holy Name High School and St. John College School of Nursing in Cleveland. Jane was a compassionate and skilled nurse and took great pride in her profession. After leaving the nursing profession to raise a family, Jane continued to help others through her involvement in The Christ Child Society, St. Hilary Parish Altar Society, The Cursillo Retreat program, The Village at St. Edward, and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Parents’ Club. However, Jane’s greatest achievement was serving as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jane, and the love of her life, Ben, had a fairy tale love filled with joyful times volunteering together, walking the beach and collecting shells, hugging and dancing to music, traveling to exotic places, hosting family holidays and annual June vacations to the beach, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Jane and Ben’s loving marriage set an example for all who knew them. They exemplified perseverance, compassion for the poor, sacrifice for family, and faith in God.

“And all because these two people fell in love”, there are many left behind who mourn the loss of Jane but are eager to carry on the legacy she and Ben started: their proud children, Joanne (Scott) Armstrong, Ben (Sue) Presper, Mary Ellen (Don) Dages, Tom (Sonya) Presper, Dave (Cathy) Presper; their loving grandchildren, Matt (Natalie) Armstrong, Brian, Ben, and Mark Dages, Tonnie (Stephanie) Dages, Briana (Ben) Robison, Hillary (Ben Bozsik) Presper, Madeline, Lydia, Irene and Owen Presper, Andrea, Maria, Stephanie and Kimberly Presper; and treasured great-grandchildren, Avery and Kalynn Robison. Jane also leaves her cherished sister, Kathy (Tony) Lamancusa and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at The Village of St. Edward and the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for their compassionate care.

A memorial mass will be held at 11am, Thursday, December 23, 2021, St. Hilary Catholic Church, Fairlawn. The family will greet visitors from 10am-11am in the church. Live stream mass at sthilarychurch.org/live. Private family only interment at Rose Hill Burial Park following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Hilary Parish Foundation or St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Foundation for the Jane & Ben Presper Family Scholarship. The full obituary may be viewed at Ohio.com.

When Jane would give us advice related to a new challenge, she would always say, “Treat it as an adventure!” We will always love you and miss you, Mom and Dad, but we thank you for preparing us well for this new adventure.
