Mary Ann was born on July 29, 1934 to Nicola D’Agostino and Josephine (Hinderscheid) D’Agostino in Akron, Ohio and passed away September 23, 2024 at the age of 90.
Mary Ann graduated from St. Mary’s High School and the University of Akron where she earned degrees in Secretarial Science and Business Management Technology. She began her career at BFGoodrich as a factory clerk and worked her way up to a valued executive secretary for various members of leadership at Goodrich. She retired after 30 years of service. Later in life she earned an Associate Degree in Fashion Design-Millinery at the Virginia Marti College of Art and Design. She was a talented milliner who made many beautiful gifts for friends and family.
Mary Ann was a member of the Fairlawn City Women’s Club, as well as a golfer with--as she described them, "a wonderful, ragtag group of Goodrich Girls who played at Good Park for many years." She also enjoyed playing mahjong at the Shaw Jewish Community Center and wanted to wish her friends there "mazel tov" on whatever good fortune comes their way.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph and Donald, sister-in-law Rose Marie (Tootie) D’Agostine, and nephew Alan D’Agostine.
She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Michael A. Finelli. Mary Ann is also survived by her sister-in-law Lois D’Agostine, niece Linda Plouse, nephew Mike D’Agostine, dear friend Sharon Fortunato and many other nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Mary Ann wanted to give a special thanks to Sig and Debbie Lembo for their love and friendship, and for sharing their children, Laura, Anthony, and Stefanie with her and Michael over the years. She said that Sig had always been like a brother to both of them. She also fondly remembered the Vaccaro family. Special thanks the to the doctors, nurses and medical staff who attended her during her illness.
It was her request to be cremated. Calling hours will be at 10 AM Wednesday October 2, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 West Market, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
