MaryAlyce Catherine (Steinmetz) Dentici

MaryAlyce Catherine (Steinmetz) Dentici was a strong, hard-working, passionate and independent woman who devoted her life to her family. She raised her two daughters – Kristen Shoughrue and Kelly Dentici – on her own, showering them with love and support and helping them become successful women with careers and families of their own. She worked tirelessly to support them, working as a dental technician by day and earning extra money as a bartender by night. Later in life, she worked as a cashier and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

MaryAlyce passed away Jan. 3, 2021, at the age of 78 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by her beautiful daughters, Kristen (Ryan) Shoughrue and Kelly (Jon) Dentici; grandchildren, Jordan (Dayna) Plumlee, Kathryn Shoughrue, Lucien Shoughrue and Connor Dentici; siblings, Anne Berrodin, Edward (Sue) Steinmetz, Joni Steinmetz, MaryKay Steinmetz and Lynne (David) DeLapa; sister-in-law, Betty Steinmetz and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

MaryAlyce was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Alice Steinmetz; siblings, Steve Steinmetz, Joe Steinmetz and Jane Steinmetz; brother-in-law, Louie Berrodin and cousin Edwin Casenhiser.

The daughter of Harold and Alice Steinmetz, MaryAlyce was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Akron. She grew up on Oakdale Avenue with her other eight brothers and sisters and graduated in 1960 from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

The family sends special and heartfelt thanks of love to the Casenhiser family for their unconditional love. MaryAlyce’s daughters would like everyone to know that their mother was an unfiltered, straight-forward, strong woman with a heart of gold. She will always be loved and greatly missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Feb, 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls. Mask are required.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park or the Alzheimer Foundation.
