Mary Fate

Mary Fate, 86, passed away July 24, 2023 at her long time home in Akron. She was born in Myersdale, Pennsylvania March 1937 to Charles and Velma Fate. She spent her career working in retail, starting with Rogers Jewelry downtown Akron, Montgomery Wards, May Co., Kaufmann's and she finished her career at Walmart Fairlawn; retiring at the age of 80.

She enjoyed spending time with her daughter Sandra, who was the light of her life, especially the cruises they took together.

Mary was quite the perfectionist, in everything she did in life. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Fate; nephews, John Jr. and James. She is survived by daughter, Sandra “Sandy” (Wayne) Gardner; grandson, Paul (Lindsey) Gardner; great-grandchildren, Christian, Cameron and Calli; sister-in-law, Peggy Fate; nieces, Debbie (Mike) Keppler, Karen (Jimi) Pelfrey and Pam Marino, and many cousins.

Visitation to be held at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, Friday 5-7p.m. and Saturday 12-2p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday 2p.m.at the funeral home.

Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
