Mary E. Yost, passed away on August 22, 2021 after a long illness.
Mary was born in Savannah, Tennessee but was a long-time resident of Akron and a graduate of St. Vincent’s St. Mary’s and Akron University. After working in the communications industry with Ohio Bell and Ameritech, she moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania and then Cary, North Carolina for a career in Marketing Communications. In 2015, Mary returned home to Akron to spend more time with her family.
Mary was a gifted yet humble person. She was a talented artist, writer, editor, Jeopardy expert, conversationalist but her best gift was always making everyone around her feel special.
Mary was preceded in death by parents, Anna Marie and Joseph; her loving brothers, Joe, Jim and Bob. She will be deeply missed by her beloved brother, Chuck (Sue) Yost, sister-in-law, Sonyia (Jim-deceased) Yost, the sister she never had; cousins (and brothers of her youth), Father Bill Severt and John Severt (Randy); and Mary’s dear friend in her golden years, Cecilia Hudgins. She will be greatly missed by beloved nieces and nephews; Brenda Nixon and her family, Jeannie (Christopher) Yost-Pfeiffer, Jamie (Stephanie) Yost, Cori (Chad Jacobs), Judd Yost, Amy (Scott) Tompkins and Sean (Melissa) Yost, and in-laws and friends, Erin and Mike Belofi. Great-nieces and nephews include, Joseph Yost, Jacob Yost, Michaela Yost, Casey Pfeiffer, Marie Pfeiffer, Annabelle Yost, Isabella Jacobs, Kyle Yost, Beckett Jacobs, Abigail Tompkins, Natalie Belofi, Emma Yost, Alexa Tompkins and Spenser Tompkins and a host of other family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held 5-7p.m. Friday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
