Mary went to grade school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Sublette and graduated from Amboy High School in Amboy, Illinois. Mary was a medical secretary at Swedish American Hospital when she met her future husband, Louis, after he was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp after serving during World War II. The couple was married in May 1949 and resided in Rockford, Illinois. Mary will be remembered by her friends and family for her love of bridge, bingo, puzzles, as well as a lifetime of service to her church and its women’s auxiliary, the St. Anne’s Society at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rockford. In 1999, Mary and Lou moved and became parishioners at Holy Family Church in Rockford until 2014, where Mary also was a lector. Mary was known for always helping family and friends in time of need and always had a smile and would cheer you up. Mary was a cancer survivor and volunteered her time as an advocate for other cancer survivors. Mary’s Catholic faith was very important to her and was evidenced by her actions in her daily life.
Mary and Louis moved to the Village of St. Edward’s in Fairlawn, Ohio in July 2014 in order to be closer to family and where she continued her passion for bridge and her church, watching Mass every day.
