Mary Ann Curry (nee Smith) born March 10, 1943 passed away on November 6, 2014. She is back in God’s loving arms.
She was a graduate of St. Vincent High School and the University of Akron receiving a B.S. in Medical Technology.
Mary Ann worked as a Medical Technologist at both Akron General and Barberton Citizens Hospitals for many years, doing her internship at Akron Children’s Hospital. Later in life, she was employed by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and finally found a very rewarding job as an activity assistant at Traditions of Bath Road. She loved her job helping the elderly with many activities and being part of the planning of these.
She was known by her family and friends for decorating for every holiday. Her neighbors did not have to be reminded of the upcoming holiday, all they had to do was to look at her home as they drove by. She never missed a holiday. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day, as was reflected in her heart and home.
She volunteered for 5 years at St. Martha’s as a Eucharistic minister and just recently as an “adoptive grandparent” at Pregnancy Care of Akron. She was a past member of the Christ Child Society and was social member of the Hibernian Club, St. Brendan’s Division.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Caroline Smith; her loving husband and best friend for over 38 years, John Curry. She will be sadly missed by her little beagle, Shamrock.
She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Anne Holda (Mark) of Medina; brother, Jack (Katherine Sear Smith) of Maryville, TN; sister, Diane (Tim Smith), sister Carolyn (Joseph Connor) of Sterling Heights, MI.
