Mary Lucille Baker, lovingly known as Mary Lou, peacefully departed this life on April 21, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 20, 1937, she was a cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, and proud great-grandmother.
Hailing from Akron, Ohio, Mary Lou was the daughter of James and Lucille Richards. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard. Mary Lou is survived by her children: Richard (Lisa) of Sarasota, FL; James (Stephanie) of Medina, OH; Traci Wilson (Daniel) of Sarasota, FL; and Lori Tomaszewski (Richard) of Akron, OH. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
A proud graduate of St. Vincent High School, Mary Lou dedicated her career to public service, beginning her journey at the Board of Elections and culminating in her retirement from the Summit County Auditor's Office. Her unwavering commitment to her family and community was evident in all she did.
Mary Lou will be fondly remembered for her kindness, strength, and the boundless love she shared with her family. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love and inspiration that will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Hilary Church in Fairlawn, OH. A Catholic mass will follow immediately at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
