Marilyn Therese McCafferty (Zrelak)

Marilyn T. McCafferty, 83, passed away on May 8, 2022.

She was born on January 18, 1939 to the late Stephen and Leanora Zrelak. Growing up in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

She graduated from St. Vincent High School, Class of 1957. She married her late husband, James E. McCafferty of 55 years and moved to Akron, OH. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Alter Society, serving as secretary for many years. For over 32 years she was the chairperson for the 300 Club. In 2021, she was awarded the St. Vincent de Paul volunteer of the year!

She was a fan of St. Vincent-St. Mary H.S. and Notre Dame “Fighting Irish” football teams! She participated in the Summit County Fall Hiking Spree for 40 years and the Spring Spree for 11 years. She fully enjoyed her monthly breakfast with her St. Joseph grade school classmates and her monthly luncheons with her St. Vincent HS classmates. She made many friends from all the way back in her childhood, coworkers and neighbors! Staying in touch with them all and enjoying spending time with them! Most of all she loved her family and sharing many special and happy times with them!

She is survived by her son, Timothy (Rose); and daughter, Laura (Jeff) Kendro; and grandchildren, Shaun (Kim), Daniel (Christina), Bridget (Dale), Kara (James) and Michael (Lori); great-grandchildren, Ava, Conor, Jacob, Jackson, Jennifer, Adelyn, Kayleigh, Mackenzie, and Emma; sister-in-law, Lois Zrelak; brother-in-laws, Tom Jenior and Rev. David McCafferty; many nieces and nephews and special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James; brothers, William (Violet), Albert, Gerald (Kathy) and sister, Ruth Jenior.

Calling hours 5-8 Thursday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd in Fairlawn. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
