Lucinda Meador
August 27, 1935 – November 11, 2022
Lucinda Meador, 85, was welcomed Home to the Lord November 11, 2022.
Lucinda grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was as smart as she was beautiful. Her outstanding intellect and hard work earned her the Fulbright Scholarship, where she studied in New Zealand. As part of her scholarship, she was honored at a Presidential dinner at the White House. She circled the world before graduating from the University of Arkansas, magna cum laude. Go Razorbacks!
Lucinda met her husband Carl when he was stationed as an Army Officer in Fort Smith. They met in college art class. Upon getting married, Lucinda moved with Carl to Akron where they raised three children.
Lucinda was a member of Bath Church and previously The Akron Bar Ancillary Group. She enjoyed teaching elementary school for many years, but eventually changed careers to work with her husband to build and grow an Insurance Title Company and Law Firm. Lucinda loved traveling, reading, going to the theater, and listening to Elvis Presley. Carl and Lucinda spent many holidays in California with their kids and grandchildren. Their children are especially thankful to have spent so much time together these past several years.
Lucinda’s grace, kindness, beautiful smile, positive outlook, and laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a loving wife leaving behind her husband of 59 years, Carl Meador and her three children: Julia (Justin) Becker, Ed (Tammy) Meador and Melinda (Coby) Garfield. She also leaves behind five grandchildren of which she was very proud: J.J. & Connor Meador, Lucinda & Clara Becker, and Weston Garfield.
Lucinda was preceded in death by her parents James Kibler and Maude Greig, sisters Mary and Dorothy, brothers James and Smith, and sister-in-law Dolores (Wayne) Alley.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a celebration service at 4 p.m. at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home in Fairlawn.
