Louis Jaber, a kind and humble soul, left this earth on December 3, 2025 at the age of 102. The seventh of nine children, Louie was born to John and Amelia Jaber in Fond du Lac, Wis. on October 31, 1923.
As a young child, he moved with his family to Akron, OH and attended Akron public schools. He graduated from old South High where he excelled in football. He then joined the Marine Corp and saw active duty during the second World War.
On February 5,1949 he married the love of his life, Margaret Smrekar, they shared 65 years together until her passing on June 19, 2014.
Louie worked for the Eaton Corp, initially in Akron then in N.C. where he and Margie lived for 20 years before returning to Akron in 2000.
Preceding him in death were his parents, dear wife Margie, his nine siblings, in-laws and many other beloved relatives and friends. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nephews & nieces, four sisters-in-law and a host of neighbors and great friends.
Louie was warm-hearted, generous and pious. He loved good food, all sports, especially football and golf. Louie was an avid golfer up to the age of 95.
He was devoted to family and his Catholic faith. An active member of St. Hilary Church, he attended Mass daily until recently when his health declined.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am at St. Hilary’s Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. Fairlawn, OH 44333, on Wednesday, December10, 2025, where friends may call one hour before mass time.
Private inurnment Holy Cross Cemetery.
