Lori Byron-Dodson Obituary

Lori Lynn Byron-Dodson (64) of Silver Lake passed peacefully on the evening of October 21st. Lori was a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls, attending Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish School, Cuyahoga Falls High School and The University of Akron where she majored in biology.

Lori’s professional career allowed her to work with the state fire marshal, perform chemical inspections and tests, and her favorite aspect of her career – working for the City of Akron as a housing inspector, a job which she LOVED. Following her career, Lori dedicated her life to raising her 2 children and caring for her mother, along with enjoying various hobbies and interests. Lori had a deep love for her family, making every aspect of the day as fun as possible for her children, husband, and other family members. Lori always made sure people knew they were cared for. She never wanted anyone to feel as though they were alone. Lori had an extremely deep love of flowers and birds. She made sure her yard looked like a park, filled with flowers, perfectly trimmed and freshly mowed without a single leaf. Lori thoroughly enjoyed her long walks, bike rides, yard work, car rides, time with her mother and family, etc.

Lori never let trials and tribulations get in her way or stop her from doing the things she loved to do. She did everything to her very best ability and made sure her family was always taken care of. Lori’s life motto was: “Your work is your signature.” – making sure that everything she did was the very best it could be, something she could be proud of. Over the last 5 – 10 years, Lori experienced health concerns and challenges, yet did not let anything stop her, she persevered and made sure her love and dedication to family was always her number one priority – often putting others before herself.

Lori is preceded in death by her father Richard W. Byron and nephew Matthew M. Kerr. Lori is survived by her husband of 36 years, Rick Dodson, her children Andrew Dodson (Erin Liggett) and Kasey Dodson, her mother Irene Byron, sisters Diana Ghizzoni (Gary Ghizzoni) and Debra Byron (Steve Rosenlieb), mother and father-in-law Janet and Fred Dodson, sisters-in-law Jennifer Pottmeyer (Jim Pottmeyer) and Kimberly Kerr (Wade Kerr), along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
