Lora Carolyn Cernik

Lora Carolyn Cernik, 84, of Granger, passed away on December 10, 2025, in the presence of her loving daughter and son-in-law.  

Carolyn was born in Pickaway, West Virginia.  Growing up, her family moved several times, living in various parts of WV, then Maryland, and finally Ohio.  She started working at the age of 17 to support her widowed mother. She continued to work over the next four decades at different Akron based rubber companies, including BF Goodrich, Uniroyal Goodrich, and Firestone.  Long after she retired, she still enjoyed attending reunion luncheons with old work friends. She loved being with people, and was an active member of Granger United Methodist Church. 

Carolyn loved to read, garden, travel, watch British mystery shows, and play dominoes with her family.  Caring for others was second nature to her-  you couldn't offer her food without her asking you to have half.  She was kind to all animals and had many beloved dogs and cats over the years. Her loving nature, warmth, and happy disposition will be deeply missed, as will "Grammy's" sugar cookies and gingerbread men.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Opal Dowler, and her father, Theodore Eugene Cornell.  

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Cernik; daughter, Christina Cernik (Julius A. Feitl); grandchildren Max and Catherine; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 11am-1pm with prayer service starting at 1pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Burial will commence afterward at Crown Hill Cemetery.
