LINDA JEAN O’NEILL JULY 7, 2023
Linda passed away July 7th after a 8 month illness. She was born on June 28, 1944 to Francis and Marcille Luxon of Akron Ohio. She leaves her loving and devoted son Gib of Akron, son Christopher of Seattle Washington, eldest sister Judy Kovac and husband Robert, brother Tom (dec) wife Bobbe of Ft. Worth TX., sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Gary Shaw and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and held close to her heart.
Linda was a 1962 graduate of Garfield High School and earned her degree in education from The University of Akron in 1967. She was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, and a varsity cheerleader in College. More recently she was a member of The University of Akron Women’s Board.
Linda was devoted to raising her two sons Gib and Christopher and cherished their family ski trips in the Winter, sailing and Fairlawn swim and tennis in the Summer.
Linda and Gib Sr. co-owned and operated Mountain Sports and Bristlecone mountaineering inc. for many years. Linda worked as an interior designer and in flooring sales along with other jobs over the years to support and raise her boys.
She had a fierce love and dedication to all of her friends and especially the ones from Beaverbrook Drive.
She was devoted to her faith and St. Hilary Catholic Church where she spent many hours preparing funeral dinners to grieving parish families. She loved this ministry and the men,and women she worked with and held those friendships close to her heart. On Sunday’s after 7 a.m. mass she enjoyed breakfast at First Watch Summit Mall where her son and friends would gather for breakfast. Weekdays after 7 a.m. Mass she enjoyed breakfast with her “peeps” at Panera in Fairlawn.
The day before Linda entered the hospital she was honored with a glorious 79th birthday celebration that included 60+ friends and family held in her beautiful back-yard garden. It was the event of the season with an ice cream social put on by her sister Judy and her beloved niece Kimmy. It was the highlight of Linda's year.
Linda is an irreplaceable soul that loved and admired all around her. She was incredibly selfless and rarely asked for anything.In the end her devotion to Christ never wavered and gave her unimaginable bravery up until the last moment. She was only worried about those around her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Mass of Christian Burial 10a.m. Saturday, July 22 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, where friends may call 9-10am
