Lena Corinne (DiFrangia) Marseglia

Lena Corinne (DiFrangia) Marseglia went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2021 at 89 years of age after an extended illness.

Lena was born in Akron, Ohio on September 19, 1931. She grew up in the North Hill area of Akron and was the youngest of five children born of Italian immigrant parents. At an early age Lena learned the value of hard work. She helped her mother while her father worked long hours at Goodyear and her four brothers were off to war in Europe during World War II. She graduated from North High School in January 1950 and then worked for the City of Akron as an office assistant. Lena was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Knights of Columbus Columbian Guild.

She met the love of her life, Dan, at O’Neil’s department store where he worked as a salesman. Lena and her brother purchased their parents’ first television set from Dan; they were married seven months later on August 28, 1954. Family meant everything to Lena as she was a loving homemaker true to her husband and family. During the Holidays her cooking and baking skills were on full display. Her nut rolls and pizzelles were a favorite of family and friends.

After Dan’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter months and to many other destinations around the country. They especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren as well as going to their sporting events, dance recitals, band and choir concerts.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Dan Marseglia; her parents, Dominic and Jennie (Sylvestri) DiFrangia; infant sister and brother, Michaelina and Frank DiFrangia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Jennie DiFrangia and Albert and Mary DiFrangia; brothers, Mike DiFrangia and Alfred DiFrangia. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Tom) Burgett, Janet (Bill) Jones, and Nancy (Larry) Whitman; grandchildren, Daniel (Kandyce) and John (Luda) Burgett; Alison (Kevin) Miller and Caroline Jones; Andrew (Ashley) Whitman and Lauren (James Kertcher) Whitman; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hailey Miller and Antonio Burgett; sister-in-law, Theresa DiFrangia and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff of Maplewood at Cuyahoga Falls and the Traditions Health hospice team for the compassion and care shown to Lena over the last few years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Friday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.; Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Father McIntyre Fund, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223.
