Lawrence (Larry) Raymond Rose, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 18, 2024, at his home in Kent, OH. Larry was born to Alfred and Estelle Rose on July 13, 1943, in Romford Essex, England.
His parents left London after WWII and immigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in Akron, OH. He earned US citizenship in 1954, and lived most of his life in Northeast Ohio, with short stints in Novato, CA and Boca Raton, FL.
A graduate of Buchtel High School (1961) and Kent State (1966), he enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in1972.
“Fluff,” “LR,” “Uncle L,” “Papa,” or “Grandpa” is survived by his adored wife and best friend Connie. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage, laughs, and much happiness.
Larry is survived by his son Jeff of Charlotte, NC; daughter Kim (Shaun Graber) of Phoenix, AZ; son David of Bedford, OH. Larry leaves a legacy to his pride and joy grandchildren: Haley, Hannah, Holly, Cole, Stella, Isaac, Emmett.
A financial executive and natural salesman, Larry had a successful 40+ year career at Merrill Lynch. Upon retiring from Merrill, Larry had an opportunity to create a partnership at UBS, and after 3 years, decided it was time to dedicate the rest of his life to travel, family, and friends.
LR traveled the world with Connie and enjoyed their love for cruising. Their biggest passion was supporting grandkids in their academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities. He even made an encore return to Kent State, his alma mater, to attend creative writing and comedy-based courses.
Larry had an infectious personality and was a true character. His ability to enthusiastically connect with people enabled him to make many special friends throughout his life. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024. Calling hours will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm with the service beginning at 12:00pm. at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S Miller Road, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park.
