Knowledge Totten Obituary

Knowledge Totten, 91, passed away April 5, 2025, in Colombus, Ohio after a short battle with COPD.

Knowledge Totten was born on June 24, 1933, in Holly Springs, Mississippi. A talented chef, he dedicated over 35 years to the culinary arts, delighting many with his innovative recipes before retiring in 1998. Knowledge had a passion for playing the harmonica, fishing and enjoyed hands-on activities, including fixing radios and building various projects. Long before voicemail became common, he even crafted his own answering machine.

He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, singing and playing the harmonica and his love for cooking, always eager to share meals with family and friends.

Knowledge was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Totten; mother, Emma Totten; first wife, Frances Seymour; second wife, Diane Hilt; sister, Eloise Totten; brothers Columbus, Sylvester, Robert, Boone, and JC Totten; sister Barbara Seal Totten; and daughter, Geraldine Thigpen.

He is survived by his sister Aunt Liz, brother Orlando Totton, daughters Theresa Taylor, Kathy Carr (Tommy), and Amyma; along with nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Calling hours 5pm to 7pm Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11am.

Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
