Kathleen (Dolly) O. Kirby

Kathleen (Dolly) O. Kirby passed away suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage on March 28, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Akron General.

She was born on August 19, 1930 in Pittsburg Pennsylvania, the 9th and youngest child of James Mullen and Catherine Collins Mullen.

Dolly and her family moved to Akron Ohio in 1964 where they became members of St Hilary Parish. Dolly was very active at St Hilary’s for 58 years, teaching CCD , working the funeral lunches, and also helping with monthly coffee and donuts. She especially enjoyed attending 11:00 Sunday Mass and 9:30 weekday mass, followed by coffee with friends at Panera’s.

Dolly was a devout follower of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and recited it daily.

Dolly graduated from Mt Lebanon HS in Pittsburgh, and The University of Akron with a BA in Social Work. She worked 25 years and retired from Summit Co. Childrens Services.

She was also a member of Akron City Women's City Club and the Weathervane Theatre.

Dolly will be remembered for her devotion to her Catholic Faith, her family, her sense of style, and the many friends she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband John in 2004.

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Colleen (John) Miller; loving grandson, John P. (Nicole) Miller; and cherished granddaughter, Kara (Brian) Brilliant. Six adoring great-grandchildren, Barrett, Duncan and Fletcher Miller, and Jack, Alex and Emery Brilliant. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours 3-5pm Sunday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn.

Mass of Christian Burial 12p.m. Monday at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
