Katherine G Bryson, age 99 years, passed away September 11, 2024. Preceded in death by husband Doyle and son Greg, she is survived by daughters Ceil (Mark) Cohen, Karen Koplin and son Richard (Betsy) Bryson; grandchildren Aaron (Katie), Megan (Kenny), Rick (Mollie), Bobby (Aiko), Ashley (Nick), Ryan (Stephanie), Alec and 9 great grandchildren.
Born in Akron, Ohio Kate graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Akron and pursued a Master’s Degree in English. She was a recipient of the Kathleen Montgomery Auburn memorial scholarship for “Women over Thirty” and recognized for scholastic achievement – Omicron Delta Kappa. She was a member of Mortar Board, Pi Sigma Alpha, Pi Delta Phi - Societe D’Honneur Francaise. She retired from Akron Public Schools.
Kate loved the game of golf! She created the Good Park Ladies Golf League in 1963 which is still in existence. She “retired” from golf at the age of 93 but not before she became a member of the Dunlop Hole in One Club.
The family extends their gratitude to Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice for their care as well as the nursing staff in Dellenberger at Concordia at Sumner.
Funeral service and burial are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
