Karen L Zavodney

Karen Lynn Zavodney (83) passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 16, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Stuart and Ethelmae (Oder) Shafer.

A 1961 graduate of Revere High School, Karen was a longtime resident of Bath, Ohio. She dedicated her life to raising her three sons, a feat she accomplished with grace, humor, and the skill required to keep three rambunctious boys on the right path. Beyond her family, Karen was a woman of creative vision; she possessed a deep passion for building homes and a sophisticated eye for interior decoration, leaving a mark of beauty on the world around her. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Karen is survived by her brothers, Jere and Lee Shafer, and her sons, Andrew Zavodney Jr. and Christopher Zavodney. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Zavodney, who was taken by cancer in 2017.

Karen will be put to rest at a later date in the presence of family and friends at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
