Karen Sue (Curtiss) Wickiser, 69 of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Nov 29, 2021. She is reunited with her son Robert “Bobby” and other Loved Ones. Karen leaves behind her fiancé Michael “Mick” Miller, sisters Grace (Rick) Heil, Katrina Curtiss and brother Daniel Curtiss, her students, many close friends and daughter Tracy Ring.
Karen had to grow up way too early. She took Care of her Siblings while her mom worked (dad left at age 12). She always worked while going to school. Her Jobs: Baby Sitting, BK Rootbeer, Honadle’s Candy Co, Encyclopedia Britannica, Red Cross (Operator), Falls Cab (Dispatcher & Driver).
She was a 1970 CFHS Graduate and received an Associate's Degree in Accounting from U of Akron. She married in 1972 and was hired by Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
Karen started a family in 1978, when Tracy was born, she became a stay-at-home Mom. Bobby was born in 1981. Life seemed wonderful. Karen became an EdZOOcater Volunteer at Akron Zoological Park in 1983. Around 1986 she began to assist measuring Marathon Trials, was RRTC Course Registrar 2000-04. She was an avid runner and completed several Marathons. Bobby became ill and unexpectantly died of Leukemia in 1989.
Karen went back to U of Akron earning her Degree and Teaching Certificate in 1996. She taught at Silver Lake for two years then opened the Special Ed Unit at Preston Elementary. She received her Masters of Education from Kent State in 2002. Divorced in 2005. She retired from the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools in 2018. She loved and cared for her students, her children. They helped fill the Hole in Heart from the loss of 8-year-old son Bobby.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trial, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Karen Wickiser, 918 Elizabeth Ct., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. A fund is being established to aid Nonprofit Organizations Karen supported.
