Julia Anna Ruof, 69, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center. Julia was born on June 10, 1954, in Oklahoma City, OK.
Shortly thereafter she moved with the family to Akron, OH. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Junior and Bernardine Elizabeth (nee Steffens) Ruof. Julia was a 1973 graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
As an adult, Julia spent thirty-four years between Cincinnati, OH and Park Ridge, NJ with her sister, Joan. Eventually, she longed to return home to Akron, where she happily lived out her last five,
years at White Pond Villa Estates. Julia worked for various fast food and deli industries in Ohio and New Jersey. She was skilled in crocheting and enjoyed music, watching sports and Star Trek movies. It would not be a surprise if we went to her apartment and the Disney Classic Movie, “20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” was not playing! Julia also enjoyed choir, crochet club, bingo, card games and board games. She was a member of the St. Hilary Sewing Club and loved socializing with her friends at White Pond Villa Estates and St. Hilary Church. She was a much-loved member of Card Party Wednesdays at St. Hilary. She will be missed for her wry sense of humor and quick wit.
Survivors include her sisters Barbara Emery, Joan Caruso (John), Constance Bradner (RJ), 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Shortly after returning to Ohio Julia felt extremely blessed to have connected with Amanda Korb, her daughter, whom she had placed for adoption as a baby. Julie prayed a Daily Rosary for the Unborn and for an end to Abortion. The connection with Amanda was an answer to such prayers and a True Blessing in so many ways.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 25 between 10:00 and 11:00 AM at St. Hilary Church, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
