Julia (Judy)Elizabeth Orosz, 76, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. A lifelong learner, devoted nurse, and endlessly curious spirit, Judy brought warmth, insight, and humor to all who knew her.
Born on November 5, 1948, Judy lived a life defined by compassion and curiosity. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and proudly wore her University of Alabama alumni status—"Roll Tide!"—as a badge of honor. Her career spanned decades, including teaching nursing at the University of Texas in San Antonio and serving children and families for over 20 years at Akron Children's Hospital.
Judy's passions reached far beyond her profession. A dedicated member of Fairlawn Lutheran Church, she was a true student of religion, often engaging in heartfelt conversations with clergy of all faiths. She approached learning with a boundless enthusiasm—whether through deep discussions, music, or even recipes. As one friend shared, "She read cookbooks like most people read best sellers."
She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend who delighted in staying connected with loved ones, often clipping and sharing articles "for your interest," just like her mother before her. Judy was a longtime supporter of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and looked forward to each summer at Blossom Music Center.
Judy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Jackie Orosz; her nephew Michael Orosz and his wife Christie, along with their children and grandchildren: Abigail and Jack Daugherty (Anna and Nathan), George and Claudia Hearst (Micah Elliott), Begine White-Klien, Emma and Garrett Satow, Hannah and Christian Hill (Evelyn), and Carley Orosz. She is also survived by her niece Rachel Orosz and her spouse Laura Colbert, and their child, River Colbert. Judy cherished her dear friends Arlene and Van Hayne, who stood by her through the years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rachel Dosa-Orosz and William Orosz.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Judy's life during calling hours on Thursday, June 19 from 4-6 PM, with a service to follow at 6 PM, led by Pastor Jack Kozak, at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital—a cause close to her heart.
She will be remembered for her wisdom, wit, and the deep love she held for her family, friends, and community. Judy's spirit of inquiry and her giving heart will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
