Judy passed away peacefully on December first after a long battle (nearly 5 years!) with pancreatic cancer.
A lifelong Akron resident, Judy is survived by her husband of 63 years William, her daughters, Susan an educator, Deborah a physician and Pamela an attorney; her 6 grandchildren, Kylie, Pippin, Noah, Owen, Ozzie and Kai; and her two sisters Cheryl McGuire of Akron and Norma Wagner of Columbus.
Judy, a registered nurse, worked labor and delivery at Akron General Hospital until retiring to raise her children and dedicate her life to volunteer work. Many local charities benefited from Judy’s thousands of volunteer hours including Witan, Weathervane Playhouse, TWIG, Our Lady of the Elms Schools and several community hospitals.
An avid sewer and quilter, Judy was always happiest at her sewing machine making quilts, usually to gift to others, and baby blankets for all of her friends and family.
In her free time Judy enjoyed reading and spending time with friends at her monthly book club, quilt guild and St. Hilary Parish women’s group. She also loved attending any activity involving her grandchildren.
Judy will be missed by everyone who knew her and remembered for her kindness, willingness to help everyone and love and dedication to her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Hilary Church, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn Ohio, 44333 on Thursday December 4th at 11:00am. To live stream Mass: sthilarychurch.org/live
