John Loeffler Obituary

John Loeffler, age 86, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at Summa Hospital. Born on November 17, 1939, in Djakowo, Yugoslavia. John immigrated to the United States from Germany in January 1952, and built a life rooted in hard work, service, and family.

A proud graduate of North High School, John was drafted into the U.S. Army in May 1963, where he served his country with honor. Following his military service, he established a successful career as a highly skilled machinist and fabricator, working with multiple companies throughout his lifetime. He also worked at Handcraft Metal, and his craftsmanship is on display across many states—a testament to his precision, creativity, and enduring impact.

Known for his problem-solving abilities and unwavering dedication, John was the person everyone turned to—whether it was fixing a challenge, offering sound advice, or simply making things work. His expertise and reliability earned him deep respect among colleagues, friends, and family.

John’s hobbies reflected his character: working (perhaps a bit too much), fixing things, and dreaming up new ways to make things work better. He loved traveling to America’s national parks, finding joy in exploring the outdoors and sharing those journeys with the people he loved. He also had a sweet tooth—especially for German pastries—and somehow never gained a pound, a detail that always made his family smile.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Christine Loeffler. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Hilde Loeffler; his sons John Loeffler (Melissa), Brian Loeffler, and Scott Loeffler; his grandson Allan Loeffler; and his granddaughters Katie Loeffler and Kathryn Loeffler; his brother Steve Loeffler (Inge) and numerous nieces, and nephews. His legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 17, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Hilary Church, 2750 W. Market St, Fairlawn, OH 44333, where friends may call one hour prior to service time.
