Joan F. Benzon

May 19,1932-November 26, 2022 (age 90)

Born in Chicago, Illinois she never lost her love of the city. While growing up, she could be spotted at a baseball game at Wrigley Field, shopping the Magnificent Mile, or spending time at the world class museums.

After attending secretarial school, Joan was married and moved to Ohio. There she began her greatest love- that of devoting her life to her family. No holiday could be too big or too important for the family.

During this time her hobbies included, but not limited to, gardening, reading, photography- especially taking pictures of nature, music and the computer. On the computer she developed a network of friends around the globe. Education played a high priority in her life and was part of her lifelong journey. 

As time continued and the children left home, she worked for Ryan Homes in the model home division and made the real estate agent’s job effortless by preselling the homes for them. As a result, she was singled out for her selling ability. She also helped others by being a nanny, house sitter and dog sitter especially for Yorkies. 

The family would like to thank the staff at the Heritage of Hudson and Bella Hospice for their consistent loving care for mom over the years.

Joan passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022. She leaves behind her loving children Peggy Sloan (John), Mike Benzon (Penny), Julie Breckel (Jim); grandmother of five and great- grandmother of six. She was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Cecilia Caplet, brother Tom and son Stephen Patrick (deceased).

The family will hold a private service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark, Ohio.
