Jerry L. Wiseman
Passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, on January 22, 2024. Born December 15, 1953, he was preceded in death by his parents, McDonald and Ruthie Wiseman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Martha; his children, Elizabeth (Sean) Wiseman, Mary Zerbini, Morgan (Carl) Shaffer, and James (Rhiannon) Shaffer; his grandchildren, Valentino Zerbini, Leonardo Zerbini, and Riley Shaffer; and brother, John (Deb) Wiseman.
A graduate of Kenmore High School, Jerry served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal before returning home to attend the University of Akron. He worked in management and sales at Ohio Machinery and Sam Winer Motors, where he retired in 2018. Jerry was a lifelong blood donor, donating at least 15 gallons to the American Red Cross in his lifetime. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 19 from 2013-2018 and was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for the last 15 years.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his family and friends. According to his wife, he was the best speller ever.
Calling hours are 5-7 pm on Sunday, January 28 at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home on S. Miller Road in Fairlawn, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Monday, January 29, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
