James (Jim) A. Aberth, 82, passed away December 29, 2024. He was born to Herman and Laura (Eggers) Aberth on October 19, 1942, in Akron, the second youngest of six children.
Jim graduated from Zion Lutheran School and South High School, and attended the University of Akron. He worked as an accountant for Goodyear Aerospace (later known as Loral, ABSC,
and Meggett) for over 40 years before retiring. Jim and Mary Kay knew each other their entire lives, as both families attended Zion Lutheran Church. However, it wasn't until their teenage years that they truly noticed each other and quickly fell in love. They were married for over 60 years, sharing a once-in-a-lifetime love, until Mary Kay's passing in 2022.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary Kay, his brother Tom (Eloise), his sister Mary (Jerry) Sterba, brother-in-law Stan Peterson and his daughter-in-law Kim.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Laura, David and Melissa; his cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Kate (Ryan), Sarah, Mia and Max who lovingly knew him as Grandpa and Papa. He is also mourned by his sisters, Martha Aberth of New Franklin, Ruth Peterson of CA and Lois (Jack) Sampson of FL; sisters-in-law Janis (Jon) Wendelken of Akron, Judith (Lloyd) Cooper of AZ; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim will always be remembered for his grin, his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and especially his infectious laugh. He had a lifelong passion for reading and bird watching. He was
the epitome of a true gentleman.
