James “Jim” Dawson, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, was born in Toronto, OH, and graduated as part of the Class of 1953. Following his graduation, Jim proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War. After his military service, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University, paving the way for a distinguished career in the banking industry. Jim was highly respected for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.
Jim lived a full and vibrant life, finding joy in golfing with friends, exploring new destinations, and spending winters in Florida. His sense of humor and warmth made him a treasured companion and friend to many.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Hannah, in 2003, and his brother Drex. He is survived by his sister Rita; his devoted children, Pam (Dale) Dunstan, Todd (Doris) Dawson, and Kim (Kevin) Grogan; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Jon, James, Andrew, Marc, Tom, Josh, Zach, and Kendall; and his great-granddaughter, Juniper. Jim is also survived by his long-time companion, Vivian, whose love and support brought him great happiness in his later years.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Summa and Pleasant View for their exceptional care and kindness toward Jim.
A proud veteran, devoted family man, and kind soul, Jim’s legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment to follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
