Helen Overfield of Wadsworth, Ohio went home to be with the lord on November 23 at the age of 88. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on January 16, 1936, and married her high school sweetheart, Ronald, on December 13, 1957. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service to those in need. 

Helen was the heart of her family, always there to guide and support them with love and kindness. She embraced her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother with joy and pride, creating countless memories through holidays, family traditions, and moments of everyday life. Her wisdom, humor, and unfailing encouragement were gifts she gave freely to all who were lucky enough to call her “grandma”, or “mamaw”. 

A woman of deep faith, Helen’s belief in God’s goodness guided her through life’s challenges and triumphs, and she lived as an example of compassion and grace. She will be remembered for her selflessly devotion to her family, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. 

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald, parents Helen and Isaiah , and daughter, Marcia. She survived by her two daughters, Diana Overfield and Carol (Denny) Mela; her grandchildren, Tammy Young, Eric (Katie) Young, Josh (Ashley)Young, and Stephanie (Billy) Cameron; and her great-grandchildren, Breanna, Noah, Luke, Michael, Rowan, Myles and Liam.

Calling hours will be held on Monday December 2nd at 12pm with a short service to follow at 1pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor her memory and find comfort in the love she shared so generously.
